Stephanie's Campaign Blog

Looking for my Select Board info site?

That would be StephanieOKeeffe.com instead of .org.

Thank you!!

Thank you to all who cared about the election, learned about the candidates, and voted!

Vote today!

Today is the big day!

The polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In the home stretch

Some random thoughts and information bits, with a few days to go:

Whose schools are they anyway?

It speaks to a sad perception – or reality – in town these days that some parents are concerned that because I don’t have children, I may not value our schools.

How did it come to this?

Great Monday morning!

My first “Monday Morning at the Black Sheep” was terrific!  I met great people, heard a lot of interesting thoughts and views about how things work in town, and I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations.

Meet me Monday mornings in March

What’s better than good conversation over great coffee?

Signs of the times

I’ll tell you what:  every day of this campaign brings new lessons in life and politics.

Not the only campaign in town

Went to the Barack Obama rally in front of Town Hall this morning.  Governor Deval Patrick was there to pump up the crowd and motivate folks to work in support of Obama for Tuesday’s primary.

Friday night on ice

Took a break from campaign work Friday night and checked out Amherst’s newest entertainment option.

Touring the Big Brother - Big Sister program

I did a “tour” of the Big Brother – Big Sister program this evening.  Really inspiring.  I’m already trying to talk two great people into being Big Brothers.  Boys make up 80% of the program’s waiting list.

Dedication of Habitat for Humanity house

Imagine living in a house built entirely of caring and generosity.

Sure, there’s wood and nails too, but the real structure of Kathy and Rachel Perry’s new house on Stanley Street is human kindness.

Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

I went to the Martin Luther King scholarship breakfast this morning.  This community event has happened annually for 24 years, and it is inspiring.

After the After 5

Good time and a good turn out at the Chamber’s “Love is…” After 5 event.  Met nice people, had great food – this was quite a spread – fancy passed hors d’oeuvres, an amazing cheese & veggies & dip table, and lots of chocolates and sweets from the various Valentine vendors.  I had a cupcake from Atkins that tasted just like a Twinkie – and that’s a good thing.

Meet me at the After 5

Today (Wednesday) I will be at the Chamber of Commerce’s After 5 event – “Love Is…” at the Courtyard by Marriott in Hadley.  You should be there too!

Welcome!
